More Excerpts from The 417 Rules of Awesomely Bold Leadership: Lead Through Endless Talking About Leading

Brant_hansenRule #114:  There's only one way Leadership gets done:  Through talking about leading.

[Excerpt]

...and I'm here to tell you, that next morning I woke up with sixteen more rules and twelve more acronyms!  My publisher was thrilled to get the manuscript on-time, again.  Leadership is all about coming through in the clutch.

And you can't just "get" leadership.  You have to live it.  And how do you "live it"?  Good question, friend!

Here's how:  You travel around and talk about it.  Endlessly.  Traveling around, talking about it, writing about it, coming up with rules about it, rhyming it with other words, googling for quotes about it, putting those quotes on notecards, and updating your books with the things that you wrote on those notecards.  For years.

Am I, the Vision Coach, a true leader?  Well, friend, sometimes I can barely get out the door in the morning.  Why?  Friend, I'm pinned in by stacks of thousands of notecards.

Heck yes, I'm a leader.

Leadership is talking about leadership.  It's like my friend, says, who met Tiger Woods:  "Simply hanging around with golfers doesn't make you a golfer."  No.  But traveling the world, yammering on about golfing, without pause, for decades?  Now you're golfing, friend!

"I 'led' D-Day, but I didn't learn about leadership until I collected 1,000 funny stories about leadership and went around telling them all over the place."

-- Dwight D. Eisenhower

That has to be one of the funniest posts ever man. Wow! you are a leader..

Wow, now that I hear Dwight D. Eisenhower talk about leadership, I'm absolutely sure he was a leader. No doubt in my mind that he was leading when he talked about that leadership stuff.
Thanks Brant, for teaching me to lead through famous leading leaders!

some people lead with sarcasm...

C WAT I DID THAR?!

booya! hilarious post, I loved it.

So who is your inspiration? Is there just one or are there many leaders who inspire your ways?

I googled "leadership" Here's what came up right after the Wikipedia entry:
Good leaders are made not born. If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience. This guide will help you through that process.

Whoever wrote on that website had no idea what they were talking about. In fact, that is the problem: They weren't talking, they were wasting their time learning things and gaining experiences.

You've nailed it once again, Brant.

What did he say??

Dear Vision Coach,

I don't mean to question your leadership, but how can we as leaders leading leaders lead effectively if we are unaware of what size note cards we should be using? Should we use 3x5 or 4x6? What about the lined side? Should we use the lined side or the blank side. And what about colored cards? Should we use them to code the quotes in groups?!? I am wanting to lead as many leaders as I can, but I don't want to fail making the huge mortgage payment because of this. Please advise.....
